Jessica launched her career in the oil and gas sector, but in 2012, she pivoted to Human Resources, taking on contracts with various companies. By 2013, her strategic job search led her to Carnegie Mellon University. There, she worked in HR while also attending Heinz College for a Master’s degree in Public Management.
In 2016, Jessica took another major step—buying her first home in a North Side neighborhood of Pittsburgh. It was also the year she met Jason, and by 2018, their relationship blossomed into something special. Alongside her personal milestones, she transitioned to an HRBP role in the commercial real estate industry.
In 2021, Jessica and Jason relocated within Pittsburgh with their dogs, keeping their home full of friends, laughter, and love. Then, on January 1, 2023, their world changed when Jessica suffered a stroke while hosting a New Year’s Day brunch. After being rushed to the hospital, Jason was by her side every day until she could return home. The stroke left Jessica with left hemiparesis and cognitive deficits, but she continues to battle every day with the same determination that has always defined her.
Jessica’s experience in fitness and wellness has fueled her recovery, and she’s committed to doing whatever it takes to return to her fullest self. Alongside her physical therapy, Jessica wrote a book to share her journey and offer support to others facing similar challenges, particularly in the realm of stroke recovery and invisible disabilities. She aims to raise awareness and break the stigma, encouraging empathy and grace, especially in corporate America.
In May of 2025, Jessica was let go from her job, but she remains steadfast in her pursuit of healing and reinvention. Her perseverance is unwavering, and she’s determined to find new purpose and identity as she continues her recovery journey. Her strength, resilience, and relentless drive to overcome obstacles are the cornerstones of her story.
